The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Trailer

Get Flash

So, yeah, this looks pretty darn hot. I’m no fan of game trailers as a general rule unless they at least show some gameplay, so you’re going to want to watch this one.

Is it wrong that I am just as excited for this, as I am for the Fallout game that will one day be created using the new engine?

I have watched it a few times now, and as cool as it looks, that dragon needs to toughen up.

Great stuff, WAY more impressive than the sad teaser that DICE put out for Battlefield 3 yesterday…

I didn’t post that due to its length. Teaser trailers with flashes of footage, blech.

Anyone know what gameplay will be like? As in, how does the story go?

I liked Oblivion, but the story was far too open and I just forgot what I was doing, so I never finished it. I think I closed three gates, tops.

Any word if the story in this will do more to lead you on?

I think everyone has the identical complaint about Oblivion – the game gave you no reason to actually pursue the main storyline, and did nothing to make it feel as if there would be consequences for ignoring the gates. Whatever the narrative trick is behind Skyrim (based on this trailer, I would say prophecies and dragons), I imagine they will make you actually care about the main story this time.

It was just awful. I applaud you for not posting it here. Keep up the good work!

It was even worse than you describe it with the Oblivion gates. Not only was there no consequence for leaving them open, but once you finished the main quest all the gates would close, which meant that you couldn’t get any of that “phat l00t” from Oblivion any more. I don’t care much about loot but I believe there was some quest I couldn’t finish because I no longer could fetch an item from Oblivion I needed for it.
