Fantasy Flight Games has got a lot to prove, as far as I’m concerned, with the release of Mansions of Madness. It’s a new Arkham Horror-branded game of Lovecraftian horror so fans of that classic may want to check this one out. The good news is that the game looks pretty decent and it’s designed by Corey Koniesczka, who brought us other great games like Battlestar Galactica, Starcraft, and Death Angel: The Space Hulk Card Game. This one is a cooperative adventure title with one player acting as the “Keeper” (i.e., Dungeon Master) and the others as investigators attempting to thwart some kind of Mythos goings-on from reaching fruition in fifteen different scenarios. Plastic figures, hundreds of cards, heart counters out the ass, blah blah blah all for eighty bucks retail.
I just got my shipping notice from my favorite online retailer that it’s on the way, so it should be appearing in game shops as we speak. This is a hot one, and you better bet I’ll be reviewing it my column over at Gameshark.com in the coming weeks.
