The launch of Pokemon Black and White is right around the corner and if you’re like me, it is physically painful for you to pay full price for a video game. I know I usually cover deals in my weekly Calendar Man column but Pokemon B&W launches on a Sunday and my column comes out on Monday. Sure, I could do it a day early, but I could do a lot of things, a lot of things I’m not going to do. Like write my column a day early.
Instead, here’s all of the deals I know about for Pokemon Black and White. Happy shopping!
Amazon: If you preorder the game from Amazon, you’ll get a ten dollar credit you can use towards most things at Amazon, excluding Kindle books, mp3 downloads and some other digital frippery. Amazon usually restricts its video game preorder credits to buying more video games, so this is a pretty good deal.Seeing how the game is released on a Sunday, there’s no way to get the game via Amazon on launch day. Thanks for nothing Postal Service.
GameStop: GameStop isn’t doing anything special for the launch however they have been giving away special Pokemon that you can use to unlock two Pokemon in B&W so in a way, they have been doing special things, they’re just things that don’t save you any money. GameStop’s extra 50% on trades ends Sunday, which means you only have a few days left where their trade-in values are comparable to Amazon.
Toys R Us: TRU will offer 50% off any DS game with the purchase of a DS game which means you could buy say Pokemon Black and then get White for 50% off. I have no idea if Pokemon B&W is specifically excluded from this. They also have a deal where if you buy Black or White, you can get a Legendary Kit for nothing, while supplies last. Who the hell keeps their game cartridges loose these days? Christ man, get a case. By the way, my Dialga stylus is soooooo much better. The free Legendary kit is good for Sunday only.
Best Buy: Best Buy will give you a five buck gift card if you buy the game. Woo, five bucks, woo.
Kmart: Buy either of the Pokemon games at Kmart and you can get the other one for half off. Perfect for those looking to complete the ‘Dex without the hassle of human interaction.
Target: Target will give you a free art portfolio if you buy the game thereby winning the award for crappiest Pokemon Black and White deal. Congratulations Target!
