As I mentioned last week, I supported Dreadball on Kickstarter and today there is a gameplay video online that’s worth a watch if you are considering tossing your cash into the ring. The stretch goals they are reaching make this really, really hard to pass up.

Feels strange to be talking about it after only one turn, but the “full gameplay video” they talk about at the end doesn’t seem to be uploaded.
But….. I don’t get it. The whole point of blood bowl is the interactions between each other. The pitch seems really empty with 4, and would only be slightly more crowded with 6 guys, there was no real need to maneuver around each other at all, and two sevenths of the maximum score was achieved by one of the players before the other guy even got to act?
So, uh… where’s the game part? Do the guards have huge tackle zones around them that aren’t being discussed? Did they accidentally give one team 3 turns in a row?
The rule for leaving a TZ is:
“…if you are in the front three hexes of an opposing model and want to move by them, or away from them, then you have to Evade, which is a 3 Dice test where you if you fail you’ll fall over. Move behind them and you’re free to continue on your way.”
That’s from the dev. Also, facing in this game matters — unlike BB — thus the “if you are behind them” bit.
As for the actions, I *think* that if you do something and it works the player gets an extra action, which may be why it looks like a team is going three straight turns.
Not sure what you mean by “maximum score” though. The game lasts a number of “rushes” — I don’t think the score tops out. From what I have read, the games will be somewhat high scoring, which I’m fine w/ as a nice contrast to BB.
Players will also improve and I believe the Guards can evolve into Keepers, which sounds really cool, and could lead to keeping the scores in check.
The score track allows for 7 unanswered points. He got 2. Therefore, two sevenths of the maximum score. I know that that’s not a hard limit, but it seems like if they have done a reasonable amount of testing, the on game scoreboard would be sized appropriately for a a game.
Ah well, for the game at large, I guess I will just wait for the promised longer video.
I’ll watch the vid again — so it’s like a run rule?
and there is a 2nd video coming, I believe. I just want a copy of the damn rules lol.
