You have to admit these trailer teases by EA constitutes some very clever marketing. Of course it doesn’t hurt that the game looks certifiably gorgeous. Also keep in mind these trailers are based off high end PC gameplay and who is to say if your game will look like this?
In addition to these “story based” trailers, DICE has announced that the solo campaign will be around 12 hours long. I really don’t care for such announcements because it’s just filler. It’s the type of question people ask developers when they don’t have anything to ask.
“Hey how long is your game?”
“Well…that sort of depends on how fast you play it.”
But to appease the masses, DICE has said “12 hours” — now go play the multiplayer. Ok actually they said this, “”Naturally we want to introduce more people to our franchise, a lot of people don’t want to jump straight into multiplayer. They want to feel around a bit and they’re ready to move over to online.”
So anyway here we go with part 3 of these mini clips…enjoy.
I think the duration of single player campaigns, as widely reported by players and some journalists, isn’t accurate. I hear all the time about four to six hour campaigns but I think that either people are playing on the easiest level to complete a review or they aren’t tracking restarts and having to replay sections after a death. My Crysis 2 (2011 GotY shortlist) timer reads something like three hours, 27 minutes. I’m about halfway through. But that metric is of linear story time, it doesn’t account for the many, many times I’ve died and had to replay ten minutes worth of game. I’ve probably played it for closer to six or seven hours. Maybe more.
Reporting duration like this is deceptive, because it says “it will take you X number of hours to finish the game” when the truth is that it could be much longer.
But it’s the Internet, Jake, and people just like to find ANYTHING to bitch about.
“…a lot of people don’t want to jump straight into multiplayer.”
I may be the only person in the world who enjoys playing FPS, but never enjoys multiplayer. Frankly, I’m terrible at FPS. Even once I get to know a game, I go online only to “enjoy” what seems to be an endless series of headshots.
But on the other hand, I don’t *want* a highly scripted single-player campaign, of any length. I want bot support for the multiplayer maps. I used to play BF42 maps for hours on end, me and my team of bots against the enemy bots.
“I may be the only person in the world who enjoys playing FPS, but never enjoys multiplayer.”
I can assure you that’s not the case.
Yeah I play FPS games for the solo game, usually. No time to really play MP and have no desire to deal with the people who live in that world.
i’ll buy them for the single player, then trophy whoar the multiplayer.
I’ve said it a million times, and probably plenty of times on here, but there’s only so many ways to shoot a guy and capture his flag/bag/secret documents/shoes/wife before I just stop careing.
I just hate multiplayer, and often I won’t bother platinuming a game because the multi is so boring, or has some stupid co-op thing to it that makes you rely on other players who want to do nothing more than run headlong at the enemy, firing wildly.
Guess who’s shopping for a new processor and video card(s)?
This guy.
