Disgaea 4 Invites You To Name Your Weapon

No High Scores

Disgaea 4 is coming to North America in September of 2011 and to Europe sometime in the fall of 2011. To celebrate, NIS is giving all of you diehard Disgaea fans a chance to name an in-game weapon, special skill or a character in the game. Dood! I have a great appreciation for Disgaea as the very strange sense of humor appeals to me greatly and the battle systems are a thing of beauty.

It’s a shame I’m so absolutely terrible at it.

If you’d like to try your hand at coming up with a weapon name, head over to the “Come up with Dis-name-a” contest page and start naming.

  1. I’ve never been able to set one of these aside and call it “finished.” Never. And I have…I think four of them. 5 if you count Disgaea DS, the second version I’ve owned and played.

I don’t think it’s possible. And so, I’ve stopped buying them. ;p They’re all getting a bit bland anyways.

  2. I haven’t played a strat rpg since final fantasy tactics, looks like I’ll have to pick this one up and play it in secret.

  3. My experience with the first Disgaea taught me that if an encounter seemed to require an appreciable degree of strategy, I was playing it wrong. The primary “strategy” in this series is finding the most efficient method to cheat: setting up situations where defeat is all but impossible thanks to the application of overwhelming force, the ruthless exploitation of “gaps” in the combat system, or both.

This realization got me through the main storyline of the first game, but suffocated my interest in continuing beyond that. I like making decisions to overcome challenges. Learning how to subvert the game systems so that challenges no longer exist — that’s an entertaining time sink for a while, but I think it ultimately appeals to hardcore min-maxers more than to me.

  4. Played the first, played the second, played the third! I love these games!I beat these each back to front killing every superboss that gets in my way. And I plan on beating this one to. if I could name a weapon it be Saber Claws! A attack monster weapon rank 38 weapon. with a 1000 attack and 500 defense.
