Valve on First Portal 2 DLC: We’ve Got This

No High Scores

Live via press release, Valve has announced their intention to charge customers the bargain price of Zippo(TM) for the first DLC release for Portal 2, slated to come out later this summer. It’s said to include:

“Portal 2 DLC #1 will offer new test chambers for players, leaderboards, challenge mode for single and multiplayer modes, and more.”

They’re also happy to let you all know it’s got a 95 Metacritic rating right now. That should make Michael suitably irritated.

  1. Not according to the staff at my local GAME store, who decided to inform me “This is doing really well. It’s got a ninety-something on metacritic!” when I was buying Portal 2.

My first thought was “I’m all ready buying the damn game! Don’t keep trying to sell it to me, let alone badly!!”

  2. They’re trying to force their gaming knowledge and prowess. It’s how they seek validation as superior humans.

  3. Except they demonstrate time and again how they have all the gameing knowledge of a cabbage.

I once had to explain to an American woman why the fuse on the plug of her playstation had burned out when she plugged it into an Irish socket, why buying a new PS2 from an Irish store, as the clerk had advised, wouldn’t fix the problem for her son, and where to go to buy a converter and a fuse in the shopping centre to sort out the issue.

I’ve also had to assist adults with their kids in finding the game they want when the staff tell them “It’s out of stock.” instead of trying to figure out that “the one with the pink dragon on the box” is pokemon pearl.

I ended up informing them of the RRP of the 3DS before their head office did.

I’ve applied for a job there several times, and every time I’m told I don’t have enough “experiance in the field of retail or the gameing industry.”, so now I just dick with them.

  4. A 95 Metacritic rating! I wasn’t going to buy this but now I am sold! Where is that credit card…

oh no, no wait…I am still working on Shogun 2 here and Brink is hitting soon (already pre-ordered) and I just bought that new Mount & Blade thing (when does that unlock again?) and by the time those get old I am sure Valve will have a weekend sale on Steam with Portal 2 and a buttload of DLC for 75% off or some such. So I am going to have to wait on that one. Sorry Valve. You’re great and all but I’d like to eat this week.
