Calendar Man – Week of 7/31

No High Scores

Wow, the parade of cruddy summer games continues. Oh wait, I mean, welcome to Calendar Man!

I shouldn’t say that this summer has been cruddy. There have been a bunch of good games released. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like any of them will be out this week. Oh well, there’s always next week.

On to the games…

New Releases
Grover sees how gamers are unfairly stereotyped and wants to do something about it. Sesame Street: Ready. Set. Grover! is designed to promote physical activity, proper hygiene, rest and relaxation all through the magic of interactive entertainment. Hopefully there’s also a level about not being a racist ass on Xbox Live.

When you have young kids, as I do, the cartoons they watch go from insufferable, your Dora’s, Diego’s, anything on Nick Jr, to pretty dang funny, your Penguins of Madagascar, and then back to insufferable as they latch on to crappy anime-esque shows like Beyblades and Dragonball Z. I always considered Phineas and Ferb as occupying that middle section of cartoon excellence. I loved Dr. Doofen-whatever and thought that neither Phineas nor Ferb ever came off as insufferable. Hell, even Candace cracked me up. Wow, that’s a lot to write about to introduce some new games, but it’s a light week, so sue me.

Finally we have Bleach: Soul Resurreccion which apparently is some sort of action adventure game set in the Bleach anime universe. And here I thought it was a Move cleaning game.

Impulse – Impulse is digging trains and Swedes this week with a gaggle of Railworks and Paradox games on sale. I have no idea if Swedes make better trains than other areas of the world, if they make trains at all, so the combination is lost on me. Whatever the case may be, the Impulse folks have a sale page of their own.

Brandon

Brandon loves games, which shouldn't be a surprise given where you're reading this. He has written for GameShark, The Escapist and G4, and made them all less relevant as a result.

  1. For peoples with only PCs (like myself), there are a couple other releases these week:
    – Limbo, which will finally come out for the PC tomorrow (on Steam), and
    – Pirates of Black Cove (by Nitro Games and Paradox) which should be out tomorrow as well.
