Dark Souls Would Make a Sweet PC Game

Anytime I see a Dark Souls headline when browsing the news feed I stop and take a look. Well, the folks at RPS posted a brief story and a link to an online petition to get Dark Souls ported to the PC–which I think would be ultra awesome. Dark Souls would make for a great PC game and Namco wouldn’t have to hear PC gamers lament the usual “lack of save anywhere” feature because it’s a key component to the design.

As beautiful as that game looks on the console can you imagine how sweet it would look on a modern PC with an ace videocard?

RPS is right in that PC gamers love them some role-playing games and something like Dark Souls, I would think, would be a moderate hit on the platform. Worth Namco’s time to at the very least port it over and sell it on Steam? Seems like a good idea…and those online petitions always work!

  1. I’m currently playing Demon’s Souls on PS3 before moving on to Dark Souls. I would rebuy them both if they came out on the PC!

  2. Well the bad news is we’d hear nothing but Dark Souls on the podcast for a while.  The positive is that since you’ve already played the game through, you could probably stomp your nemesis like the Capra Demon the first time around hence a shorter obsession.

(Just kidding, I actually loved all your Dark Souls talk, hearing your reports was a weekly highlight for me)

  3. I got more feedback, both positive and negative, over the extended Dark Souls podcast talk.  There were people who could not get enough of that and people who wanted to slap me across the face with a fish for doing that for 4 weeks.

  4. But see that is exactly why I don’t want a PC version.  Being almost exclusively a PC gamer (my 360 hasn’t been turned on in 2 years) I couldn’t play Dark Souls.  I could get the vicarious thrill trhough you.

If it comes out on PC I would buy it (probably in the inevitable steam sale for something like $20) because of the praise it’s recieved, and because I love me some deep hardcore straegy and RPG games.  I would buy it even though I loaded up during the Steam winter sale and have no less than a dozen games in my ‘to be played’ queue.  (side note, I have a problem, send help.  I am powerless against the glut of good indie bundles)  This game would suck me in, and spit me out a month later.  I simply do not have time for that.

SO you hear that Namco, DO NOT make a PC port because I will buy it!  You would be contributing to the loss of all my spare time, and you don’t want to have that on your concience do you?

  5. This game is a freaking masterpiece. I would probably buy it for PC as well in order to play it a second time. I think playing as a magic style character would be a totally different game than the hard hitting berserker I’m playing right now. Come to PC, From Software!

  6. I played a Knight+Pyro ..I may try to play a straight mage.

No wait what am I saying I can’t start this again.
