Hawken is coming together nicely. This mech-shooter looks intense and if you haven’t seen any of the videos for it make sure to give this one a glance. I had a buddy back in college who was a ginormous MechWarrior fan. This game would make him pass out from anticipation. It’s being billed as Free to Play, which I find a bit surprising.

I hope it’s not just a military fps with a mech style overlay on the screen. Those mechs look pretty spry. The end of the video got me excited when the player started firing at the ship hovering overhead. Made me think of Battlefield 2142. Taking down Titans was thrilling, and I’m surprised that sort of gameplay concept hasn’t been advanced since. I’d love to see some more interesting mission formats rather than the old team deathmatch and ctf.
