Calendar Man – Week of 12/17

This is it folks, the last Calendar Man post of the year. Sure, there will be deals and such from now until the end of the year, but as of Wednesday of this week, I am officially off of the clock for the rest of the year. This week has nothing of note coming out, a pattern I see repeating until I’m back on the shift and I’m fairly certain you can navigate the retail landscape on your own until the New Year.

So yeah, I’ll post something on Wednesday, Bill, Todd and I will do a show on Thursday and then it’s nothing but holiday eating and packing my many, many Transformers to fill my free time. Whee!

  1. But how will people know what I’m playing on a weekly basis for the rest of the year? ??

Sleeping Dogs and Halo 4? With sides of Borderlands 2? Fine ;).

Almost done Sleeping Dogs. Just finished all the favors, races, and lockboxes. Now two more story missions and any clean up I want to do.

Oh, I got a copy of Picross 3D on clearance for ten bucks and it has been humming in my 3DS all weekend. Fantastic puzzle game.

  2. Still have not decided what to play next, so in the meantime I am trying to systematically take down all the New Super Mario Bros U challenges. The time challenges all require perfect runs to get gold, which is great since it has turned Mario into a much more fluid platformer like Rayman Origins, Dust Force, or Super Meat Boy (so I’ve been told).

I may try to take down another game before I go to my parents next week, at which point I will switch to The World Ends With You.

  3. In addition to all the deals above, Amazon is having a massive sale on downloadable PC games right now. The selection will vary a bit from day to day, but at the moment, the four-week-old Hitman: Absolution is down to $20.

And don’t forget: all the cool kids buy from Amazon by searching through the No High Scores app there on the right side of screen —->

  4. So I have no interest in Skylanders, or Spyro, but I was at a friend’s house this week, and his 8 year old son asked me to play a little bit of it with him, and I can, without qualification, say that if I was 8, and that game had come out I would have LOST. MY. SHIT.

The giants glow when you put em on the thing! And then they show up! Right there on the Tee Vee! It’s crazy!

The gameplay’s passable enough, but the fact that you can set a piece of plastic on another piece of plastic and have the game recognize everything and have the character give you an entrance catchphrase? That’s cool.

Oh, and the action figures glow when they’re on the pedestal…just sayin.
