There’s slightly more stuff out this week than last week, but still not enough to warrant more than a paragraph talking about it. Sorry folks, but seeing how another holiday season is right around the corner, fast on the heels of the last one, this is all you get. This week’s two big releases are Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch on the PS3 and The Cave, coming to a bevy of digital download services near you. I played both of these games at E3 and both are beautiful, very stylish games. Unfortunately, given my current slate of games, I don’t need another 40 hour game. A 2D adventure game, on the other hand, will fit the bill quite nicely. Other stuff comes out too, including the PC release of DmC, ShootMania Storm, Strike Suit Zero and Dawnstar. Yay, PC shooting.

Contingent on me finishing Far Cry 3 and Halo 4 for trading in though. Nuts to 60 dollar price tags.
Hmmmm, part of me really wants to get Ni No Kuni. Then there is that voice in the back of my head going, “Do not do it, you’ll be spending $60 on another game you likely not to finish, because who are we kidding, you never finish anything you start.” That second voice makes a convincing point…but screw him, he can get his “I told you so” in later.
Just have to wait for this pre-order period to end. I refuse to pre-order anything that comes with an exclusive pre-order bonus, or a pre-order bonus at all really. I can not have the publisher thinking the reason I ordered from Amazon was because they offered an exclusive character, or whatever. I order from Amazon because it is less of a pain than going to a brick and mortar store and dealing with their “knowledgeable” associates and their amazing deal on *thing I could not care less about*.
Also, the Cave looks right up my alley.
A few months ago, I told Michael Barnes that, thanks to how quickly sales come around these days, I almost never pay over $35 for my games. The “almost” part was included to leave me some wiggle room for a release like Ni no Kuni.
That’s a game I’ll buy at full price and say Thank You for the privilege.
Don’t sleep on Ni No Kuni just because it’s long. I can already see this game possibly showing up on a lot of Best of the Year lists at the end of 2013..including mine. Great, great game. And I’m not a JRPG fan either.
